Sihanoukville, the seaside resort of Cambodia

Sihanoukville, also known as Kompong Som, is a seaside resort famous for its white sand beaches. It is also the first deep water port in the country. The city is experiencing a tourism boom in recent years. The hotels, ranking from a simple bungalow for few dollars to five stars, bloom from downtown to the beach. A multitude of restaurants, bars and deck chairs lined up along the beaches.

 Many activities are possible in Sihanoukville.

Swimm

The water temperature is warm, 25 ° C and the water is shallow at the beach. (I've never tried to swim near the port)

Snorkeling

Although you can swim with small fish, at Victory beach, for example, the visibility is better near the islands.

Suntan

The sun is always there ! During the monsoon season from June to October, winds are stronger and the weather is more cloudy.

Shopping

At downtown, there is a central market where you can find everything. At the beach, you'll find many small huts to buy T-shirts, swimwear, jewelry ... Late in 2010, a modern shopping mall is currently under construction. The country is developing very quickly. You could see a new face of Cambodia in the next ten years.

Victory beach

It is located at the north of sihanoukville, near the port, where boats get you to sail to the paradise islands of Cambodia

Sokha Beach

White sand beach and turquoise water, Sokha beach is considered the most beautiful. It is unfortunately restricted to the luxurious Sokha beach Hotel's customers.

Occheuteal beach

Serendipity Beach is located at the north of Occheuteal. The beach is very popular for travelers because there are a lot of restaurants along the beach. Travelers come to relax. People come for a drink on a deck chair under the sun. At night, candles illuminate the beach. The seafood dinners by candlelight is very cool !

Otres beach

Located at the east of sihanoukville, Otres is a huge white sandy beach, almost deserted, with a turquoise blue sea. There are no hotels and very few business huts. The government plans to build a public park in 2010.
